Auckland Anniversary Day

As William Hobson arrived in the Bay of Plenty (Auckland) today, we see many immigrants still arriving into the country since then and specifically into Auckland.

We have a diverse culture welcoming many people from all over the world and so we also had the opportunity today to welcome a group of amputees from China into New Zealand over the last weeks, especially one lady, a double leg amputee and dancer with over 1 millions followers!

They came for a distinctive purpose and that is to testify to others how they have overcome one of China’s deadliest earthquakes, the one in May 2008 when almost 70 000 people died, 18 000 went missing and 374 000 were injured.

We were invited as guest speakers to one of their events here and we believe working together to support these kids, some who has now grown up and are supporting younger amputees again, also made a difference for them. Understanding how other cultures deal with earthquakes and amputations helped all.

We enjoy sharing with you, especially on holidays like these, how one person like William Hobson made a difference for millions to follow. Happy Auckland Anniversary Day! No one is insignificant and one person surely can change the world, so never give up!
